INVITATION TO REVIEW THE BALONEY BOOKS® MEDIA KIT!
My name is Lisa Douglass and I am the author of Baloney Books®, a series of books for children. My books carry strong social science themes and depict a time when life was simpler and family love and pleasures were abundant.
Taken from my mother’s stories about a childhood growing up in a Baltimore row house, Baloney Books® presents content and accompanying instructional activities that are purposed to promote lasting values. My books also offer a worthy means for meeting Goal 1, Key Strategy L of the Baltimore County Public Schools' (BCPS) Blueprint for Progress:Encourage reading by establishing a minimum goal of 25 books, from the recommended list, that will be read by/to each student during the academic school year.In early 2010, I intend to publish Spanish translations of each book in the series, allowing for a collaborative use of the English and Spanish versions to offer a unique tool for meeting Performance Goal 2, which aims to make English language learners proficient.
My books and instructional materials have been accepted by private and public school principals and teachers, library directors, media specialists, and student teachersin North Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and New York.In fact, they are in use:
at Gibson Elementary School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina,
in a Fairfax County, Virginia classroom,
as material for the Book Discussion Group for Children at the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System in Upper Marlboro, Maryland,
by students who visit the library at Baltimore City’s Woodhome Elementary/Middle School, #205,
